Bioscience is a researcher, an analytical and technical service provider and a manufacturer for the agriculture, horticulture, aquaculture and environmental industries. It operates from laboratory facilities within the C.Y.O’Connor ERADE Village in Forrestdale and a horticulture research and manufacturing facility at Oakford.

Agriculture and Horticulture: the company operates an analytical laboratory testing soil, leaf tissue, water and plant pathology diagnostics. It provides consulting services for high intensity plant production systems, hydroponic operations and plant tissue culture. It has clients throughout the state in all areas of plant production, from fruit and vegetable production, cereal crops, plantation timber and microalgal production systems to plantation forestry.

Environment: The company provides analytical and consulting services in site assessment and land suitability, in conservation and restoration, in environmental analysis, contaminated site surveys, bioremediation and waste management. It’s client base includes urban developers, town planners, government bodies, private landowners and the waste management industry.

Aquaculture: The company is involved in development of enhanced aquaculture through improved water treatment and purification systems and through the genetic selection of aquaculture species with enhanced disease resistance. It has a long history in beta carotene production from halotolerant microalgae.

Genomics:Through its association with the CY O'Connor Foundation, the company is actively involved in applying advanced genomics to resolve issues related to disease susceptibility, to evolution and to symbiosis in plants, animals and microflora.

Teaching: Through its associations with WA Universities, the company sponsors and supervises multidisciplinary post graduate studentships.

Research: Projects include microbial ecology applications in soil organic carbon dynamics, in urban and industrial water quality management, in sustainable land use, in crop nutrition and in Integrated Pest Management. The company develops molecular biology methods for assessment of microbial communities, disease diagnostics and disease susceptibility. It continues to develop new, environmentally safe technologies for pest and disease management.
